Joss! Joss! He's our man!!!

Joss Whedon has a new show coming to FOX. It's called Dollhouse. What's it about?

Echo (Eliza Dushku) [is] a young woman who is literally everybody's fantasy. She is one of a group of men and women who can be imprinted with personality packages, including memories, skills, language—even muscle memory—for different assignments. The assignments can be romantic, adventurous, outlandish, uplifting, sexual and/or very illegal. When not imprinted with a personality package, Echo and the others are basically mind-wiped, living like children in a futuristic dorm/lab dubbed the Dollhouse, with no memory of their assignments—or of much else. The show revolves around the childlike Echo's burgeoning self-awareness, and her desire to know who she was before, a desire that begins to seep into her various imprinted personalities and puts her in danger both in the field and in the closely monitored confines of the Dollhouse.

There are some interviews at the site linked above. The show sounds promising -- it's the creative team behind Firefly, after all -- but it's worth remembering that this is FOX we're talking about here. If things go according to past practice, FOX will air the fourth episode filmed first, put the show on at 7:00 on Sundays so it's constantly pre-empted by football, insist on multiple pilots being filmed, and run ads for the show only on Friday nights during the last commercial break during the 9:00-10:00 timeslot.

In the immortal words of Jon Lovitz: "FOX -- they should spell it with a 'U'."
